1976, Yann Arthus-Bertrand travelled to Kenya to study the Lions. It was then that he became interested in photography.
For more than 40 years now, Yann has travelled the world, worked on numerous subjects and become an actor committed to the protection of our planet.
In 1992 he decided to undertake a monumental project which would bring him worldwide renown ; a portrait of the Earth from the Air to mark the year 2000 millenium change. Today in 2018, Yann carries on with this project, for which he has already visited more than 120 countries.
Yann Arthus-Bertrand knew how to reveal to us the beauty of our Earth in a way that had never before been seen while still respecting its naturalness and while often defining himself as a mere witness ; « Our Earth is art, the photographer is simply the witness ».
2017, creation of «Yann Arthus-Bertrand Photo », the official entity dedicated to his photographic work. It also aims to shed light on the part of his work never before revealed, a memoire of the time when photography was considered to be a tool for providing information rather than a true artistic medium.
These works are currently stored in slide form, as taken at the time. They will be scanned, digitized in order subsequently to be developed.
